Boudoir Photoshoot Experience
A boudoir shoot is something every woman should do at some point in her life. The pampering, choosing outfits you feel confident and sexy, and really seeing yourself in a light that you don't normally see yourself in is exhilarating. There is something about tapping into the sensual side of you that makes you feel powerful. I'm not one to take many pictures of myself (well at least compared to every woman around who takes selfies daily), but I do love the process of getting ready for a photoshoot. I get to tap into the many facets of me and portray it in art form.
This particular shoot came about because I thought it's been a while since I've had a photoshoot and why not a boudoir shoot. I came across a Groupon deal for an hour long deluxe boudoir package for about $50 and the company (Celebrate Your Sexy) had really high reviews so I thought why not.
I am so glad I did it and I got an amazing photgrapher! After setting up the time a date the company would send out tips for how to prepare for the day which I was thoughtful and made me more confident in my choice to go with the company. I won't lie - even with all of the tips and suggestions - I did not choose my outfits until the day of the photoshoot. For my first shoot, I was a bit more playful and soft, but for this one I was definitely more myself - black, sexy, and badass - at least in my mind that's who I am. The main color was black throughout with pops of red, gold and blue. For makeup I went with a subtle jade smokey eye look and dark burgundy lip. My hair is courtesy of a wig that has done me no wrong since I got it last year!
The photographer Amy made me feel completely at ease throughout the entire process. You are told to come with 4 outfits and hair and make up done, so when I arrived she had a place for me to lay out my outfits and talk about what I wanted out of the shoot. We stalked a bit about the outfits, she had me sign some paperwork, and we began! Based on what I told her she pretty much knew exactly what poses to do with each outfit to highlight what I wore and my body. We also incorporated a few poses I thought would look great and tweaked accordingly. I even got to sneak in a last look right at the end! Oh and I did not mention how the suite was perfect for the shoot. It was great size with beautiful furniture so I did not worry about what the background will look in my pictures. Overall I had a really great time and would recommend Celebrate Your Sex especially if this is your first time doing a boudoir shoot. They make the process simple and if you're lucky enough to have a photographer like Amy, you will feel completely at ease which will show through your pictures. It was funny how everytime she showed me a picture I kept saying wow that's beautiful, and she's like yea that's you! If she was not friendly, professional, and great with giving directions it would have been harder to get comfortable and take great pictures.
I almost postponed the shoot because it was raining and snowing and I haven't been feeling super cute lately, but something told me to go and I'm glad I listened to my gut ::Note to self - gut will not steer you wrong:: If you've never done it before or it's been a while, go book a boudoir shoot. I'd recommend going with a company or photographer that has excellent reviews so you can be more at ease since it can be very intimate.
